Can you give me information on roof prism binoculars, such as how it is built and designed?
Prisms roof design are another pair of binoculars with Porro prisms. In both cases, the multiple reflections are used to provide an image that is upside down or left-right reversed. A roof prism requires a long optical path by a dielectric material (the prism) and a more thought, so if everything stays the same also in terms of material quality, produces a smaller, more chromatic aberration image. The lens also require greater precision. In general, prism roof are more expensive to produce the same performance as a good old game prism pair of binoculars Porro, and of course, using the best materials, both roof prisms will not do so for the same cost. Another advantage of an Porro is the state of polarization of light input is preserved. The advantage the prism is that the design is more compact and potentially lighter.
